About Your Consultant
I hold a B.S. in Elementary Education from the College of Charleston, and I have homeschooled my 4 children using Charlotte Mason methods for 15 years, and I bring that experience directly into every consultation. Two of my children have already gone on to college: one graduated from Covenant College with a degree in International Studies and Community Development, another is currently a junior at Clemson University pursing Forest Resource Management, and a third will begin Charleston Southern University this fall, having been accepted into their Professional Pilot Program.
Beyond my own homeschool, I have founded and led homeschool co-ops and have attended many Charlotte Mason conferences. I am familiar with Ambleside Online, Alveary, Simply Charlotte Mason, Sabbathmood and many other curriculums across differing educational philosophies. I spent years collecting and weeks cataloging every book on these shelves - and I know how to match the right book to the right child at the right time. I have been building my own curriculum for my own children for years.
While I believe in homeschooling and the Charlotte Mason philosophy, I am not dogmatic about either. Charlotte Mason isn’t right for every child and neither is homeschooling. One of my children transitioned to traditional school in the 10th grade and graduated from there - not because homeschooling failed or because he was difficult, but because a different setting was what he needed at that point in his life. Homeschooling isn’t right for every family or every child, and part of good educational philosophy is knowing when something else might serve your child better.
Why Philosophy Matters
Homeschooling is full of decisions - and disagreements, even with yourself. Should we push through this hard book or set it aside? Stick to the schedule or follow a rabbit trail? Every family eventually runs into a hill worth dying on - and plenty that aren't. Knowing your own philosophy of education is what helps you tell the difference.
Before we talk about curriculum or book lists, I want to help you get clear on what you actually believe about how children learn and what kind of education you want to give them - even if that doesn’t align perfectly with Charlotte Mason’s philosophy. That’s perfectly fine. My goal isn’t to make you into a CM purist; it’s to help you homeschool with confidence and clarity, whatever shape that takes for your family.
How it Works
Scheduling:
Reach out via the Contact page or email flyingpiglibrary@gmail.com with a bit about your family and what you’d like help with. I’ll respond within a day or two to set up a time that works for you.
Your Session:
Come as you are - no need to prepare anything in advance, though feel free to share specific questions or struggles ahead of time if you’d like. We’ll walk through your family’s situation, your goals, and whatever is on your mind, whether that’s philosophy, curriculum or a specific child’s needs. You’ll leave with concrete next steps, not just a conversation.
Follow-Up:
If we build a full curriculum together, you’ll receive a detailed term plan - organized by subject, day of the week, with specific chapters, page numbers and assignments mapped out. I’m always happy to answer quick follow up questions by email, text or phone call as you put things into practice.

Consulting Fees
Consultations are available in person or online via video call - whichever works best for your family.
General Homeschooling Consult: $25/hour
General questions about homeschooling, Charlotte Mason philosophy, or troubleshooting your current approach.
Charlotte Mason Specific Consulting: $25/hour
Help applying CM methods to your specific family - narration, living books selection, scheduling multi-age teaching.
Curriculum Building: $50/hour
A full, customized Charlotte Mason curriculum built around your child’s age, interests and your family’s needs.
Consulting Members receive 1 free complimentary hour of consultation and another 30 minute follow-up as part of their annual membership.
